Flexible schedule of 20 to 30 hours/week (on-the-job training at the host salon + online training). Earn money while you train: between $10 and $15 per hour at your chosen salon.
Professional Career
Start as a Cosmetologist and Barber Apprentice earning between $19,000 and $25,000 while you train or work in their licensed partner beauty salon.
After completing 2,000 hours and passing the Indiana state exam, you become a licensed cosmetologist and start earning from ($30,000–$45,000).
With 3 to 5 years of experience and an established clientele, you advance to Senior Cosmetologist and earn from ($45,000–$65,000).
Many graduates open their own beauty salon as owner/master cosmetologists ($65,000–$100,000+)

Issued by the Indiana State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering Examiners.
A state license is required to practice cosmetology in Indiana.
This license is obtained after completing 2000 hours of learning and passing the state exam.
Valid: Renewable every 4 years.

Registered apprenticeship certificate from the Department of Labor
Issued by the United States Department of Labor.
National credential that certifies the completion of a registered apprenticeship program.
Valid in all 50 states.

Certificate in Business Management and Community Service
Certificate that certifies you as a Business Manager in the beauty industry and that documents your real experience with clients as well as your impact on the community through the Solidarity Cut program.
Who can apply:
Be at least 16 years old and possess a valid official identification from the United States.
No prior hairdressing experience is required.
Having a high school diploma or GED certificate is preferred, but not required for all payment options.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand movements.
Pass the background check (required by some partner stores).
